The "Crate Digger" posts are quite self-explanatory. I'm going to be digging up older tracks that deserve more attention because they're too damn good to go unheard. I stumbled upon a couple of these tracks the other day and felt the need to share it with you all.
The man behind the tracks is the legendary Scope aka Ric McClelland. He was one of the biggest reasons why I've come to love this genre as much as I do. If you're not familiar with his work then I suggest going through his back catalog because it's full of gold.
The highlighted tracks are from Scope's "Studio Sessions Volume Two" on the mighty Urban Torque label that was released on April 27th of 2009.
My favorites:
The first track "Move On" is for the DJs out there. This is a peak time dance floor killer! Hard hitting, stabbing synth work, hypnotizing acid drops, deep, funky rolling bass and a beautiful layer of strings come together for one hell of a track!
The second track, "Descanso" is a more laid back number that is reminiscent of the old OM Records sound. This is a track you dance to on a Sunday afternoon as the weekend is unwinding but you're not ready to say goodbye just yet. The warmth and groove is felt through the classic rhodes and that funky bass line. As the strings flow in, the mood is definitely set and you find yourself in the midst of the layers, daydreaming.
